Back: East Mauch Chunk, Carbon County, PA East Mauch Chunk came into existence thru the scarcity of land available for building purposes in Mauch Chunk Proper, of which it originally formed a part. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Lehigh River, opposite to its sister borough. Several families settled here in 1824 and in 1850 it was laid out in building lots. Of the original fortifications the lunettes around the guns remain intact. Here occurred that memorable conflictt known in the history of the Gettysburg battle as the Louisiana Tigers' Charge. The equestrian statue represents General Hancock in the attitude of rallying the defeated troops of the First and Eleventh Corps on the evening of July 1st / postmarked same in 1910 - stamp missing / several places that have creases, also the bottom right corner is bent, others bumped as well as age staining  

F03224~ PA-Greenville * Shenango w/row boat This post card shows a man rowing a boat as well as a good picture of the inside of a row boat on the shore / titled: SCENE ON THE SHENANGO - GREENVILLE, PA / postcard is postmarked Greenville in 1908 / No C8948 - published by J M Stinson - Greenville, PA - made in Germany / card has a little color loss to the edges/corners and it appear that the glue is gone on the right side of the card because you can literally pull the front from the back on the right side - doesn't have an effect on the card other than it isn't as stiff.
