C06325 Oil Fields near BAKERSFIELD, CA
California postcard that is serrated on the left edge as if it had been in a booklet at one time - and shows a bunch of oil well towers / back? The city of Bakersfield, at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, owes its rapid rise and much of its present prosperity to the development of the oil resources of Kern County. The oil industry in this section is immense, the fields being equalled in output only by those of Baku, Russia. One eighth of the worldss petroleum comes from here. The oil fields, with their great derricks, when seen at a distance, present the appearance of a forest of pine trees / unused / a light crease that runs just to the right of the serrated area, in the white border
