C06325 Oil Fields near BAKERSFIELD, CA California postcard that is serrated on the left edge as if it had been in a booklet at one time - and shows a bunch of oil well towers / back? The city of Bakersfield, at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, owes its rapid rise and much of its present prosperity to the development of the oil resources of Kern County. The oil industry in this section is immense, the fields being equalled in output only by those of Baku, Russia. One eighth of the worldss petroleum comes from here. The oil fields, with their great derricks, when seen at a distance, present the appearance of a forest of pine trees / unused / a light crease that runs just to the right of the serrated area, in the white border

A huge bon fire is built on Glacier Point 3,200 feet directly above the camp. At the conclusion of their nightly camp fire entertainment the burning embers are pushes from the point above, and this cataract of fire and sparks make a sheet drop of over 2,000 feet before striking any obstacles, a sight long to be remembered / postmarked from Camp Curry, Calif in 1932 even thought the book that I looked at stated that it closed in 1920!! / Western Publishing & Novelty Co / 3 of the 4 corners are bent

California real photo postcard that has the following written on the face: One of the streets of Lakeside Calif - Merry Xmas from Low? and George / the picture itself shows a road with trees on either side with only part of a wagon wheel from a wagon showing on the right side / postmarked Lakeside, Cal in 1910 - but it could also be 1916 / to Mrs Laura Peat of Beverly, KS / no other note / staining to the right side of the card, corners have different degrees of wear with the top left one having a bit of the corner missing
