C06325 Oil Fields near BAKERSFIELD, CA California postcard that is serrated on the left edge as if it had been in a booklet at one time - and shows a bunch of oil well towers / back? The city of Bakersfield, at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley, owes its rapid rise and much of its present prosperity to the development of the oil resources of Kern County. The oil industry in this section is immense, the fields being equalled in output only by those of Baku, Russia. One eighth of the worldss petroleum comes from here. The oil fields, with their great derricks, when seen at a distance, present the appearance of a forest of pine trees / unused / a light crease that runs just to the right of the serrated area, in the white border

B05296 RPPC bottom of IN KO PAH GORGE US 80 California real picture postcard titled: At the bottom of IN-KO-PAH Gorge on Highway US 80 Imperial County, Calif / has EKC in the stamp box which normally dates from about 1945 to 1950 / someone wrote in pencil on the back: This is at the bottom of Gorge the top is 287 ft above sea level and you can see for miles - not addressed or posted / there is some staining that casts a yellowish hue, mainly in the sky area of the face, there is a light crease that runs top to bottom in the center of the card as well as having light wrinkled areas, top right corner has a small bend / even with all its problems it would be a nice addition to your collection of California, Highways, etc
